How to Free Up Storage on Your Phone

A phone with very little storage left may slow down, stop taking photos, or have trouble installing updates. Use this guide if your phone says storage full, phone full, not enough space, or low storage.
Start by checking what is using space
On iPhone, go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage. On many Android phones, go to Settings → Storage or Device Care → Storage.
Safe ways to make more room
- Delete apps you no longer use.
- Remove old downloaded videos, podcasts, and music.
- Delete duplicate or unwanted photos after making sure important ones are backed up.
- Empty the Recently Deleted or Trash folder if you are sure you no longer need those items.
- Clear large message attachments you no longer need.
Before deleting photos, videos, or documents, make sure anything important is backed up somewhere you trust.
