How to Connect an iPhone to Wi‑Fi

Wi‑Fi (also written WiFi or wifi) lets your iPhone use the internet through your home, work, or another trusted wireless network. If you are trying to connect your iPhone to wireless internet, this is the guide to use.

Before you start

• Make sure you know the Wi‑Fi network name.
• Have the Wi‑Fi password ready if the network requires one.
• Stay close to the Wi‑Fi router while connecting.

Steps

1. Open Settings

Find the gray Settings app on your iPhone and tap it.

2. Tap Wi‑Fi

Tap Wi‑Fi. Make sure the Wi‑Fi switch is turned on.

3. Choose your network

Under the list of available networks, tap the name of the Wi‑Fi network you want to use.

4. Enter the password

If asked, type the Wi‑Fi password carefully, then tap Join.

5. Check for the Wi‑Fi symbol

When connected, a checkmark appears next to the network name and the Wi‑Fi symbol appears near the top of the screen.

If it does not connect

• Double-check the password.
• Move closer to the router.
• Turn Wi‑Fi off and back on.
• Restart the iPhone and try again.

Safety tip: Avoid entering passwords on Wi‑Fi networks you do not recognize or trust.
